Haiti - Reconstruction : The mayor of Quebec, keeps its promises
Six months after the visit to Haiti, of the Mayor of Quebec City, Régis Labeaume, Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, he Minister of Tourism accompanied by Michaëlle Jean, UNESCO Special Envoy for Haiti, was present in the city to concretize collaborative arrangements and most importantly, sell the tourism potential of the country to potential investors.

During the meeting at the Town Hall of Quebec City, Régis Labeaume confirmed that a new fire station at an estimated cost of $2 million will be built in Port-au-Prince, through an investor of Quebec, whose name was not revealed "The final answer is expected. [...] The City would back the investment. This is the City of Québec in collaboration with Haitians, which would draw the station, would build it, and direct the work with workers of Haiti and local materials."

In response to one of its promises made in Haiti, Mayor Labeaume had invited a dozen businessmen handpicked, including among others Michel Dallaire (Cominar), Daniel Gauthier and Claude Choquette (Groupe Massif), Jean Leclerc (Laura Secord) and representatives of Groupes SSQ and the Industrial Alliance to meet the Minister Villedrouin, who presented the investment opportunities in the tourism sector in Haiti "We want to encourage business people to participate in various tourism projects, including those of Jacmel and Ile à Vache, where we intend to build resorts. In Jacmel, the project amounts to 10 million dollars," pointed out Stéphanie Villedrouin which to reassure potential investors, has informed them that the Haitian government was assisted in these projects, by the renowned urban planning firm, IBI-DAA, before inviting them, and the Mayor Labeaume, to come to Haiti in February next year to better understand on the ground where these investments can be made​​.

Moreover, following the visit of the Mayor of Quebec with iron cut artists of the village of Noailles in Haiti, and in order to respect another promise, that to make discover in Quebec these works of art and allow artists to make themselves known, Régis Labeaume announced that before the end of this year, the Musée de la civilization will feature the works of these Haitian artists, which may also be purchased by visitors.
