Friday, at College Georges Marc, 159 students selected throughout the territory of Haiti, aspiring to get one of the 300 scholarships offered by the Government of Mexico, have passed the entrance examination for the selection of the first 125 scholarships, awarded in 2013, for studies of first cycle, in University of Mexico.

The Ministry of Education has stated that "the scholarship candidates were selected on the basis of their performance in last baccalaureate exams. They are among the first 30 laureates of their academic department."

At the reception of students, the Ambassador of Mexico, Luis Manuel Lopez Moreno, declared that the scholarship program "reflects the spirit of solidarity of the Mexican cooperation and interest of Mexico to support Haiti through the training of human resources, essential for the country's recovery."

This selection examination organized in coordination with the Embassy of Mexico and the Ministries of Education and Foreign Affairs, is part of the cooperation agreement between the two government that was signed on 26 November 2012 establishing a program of scholarships in Haiti, through which the Mexican government has committed to provide up to 300 scholarships over three years (up to 125 in 2013, up to 100 in 2014 and 75 in 2015).

Students that will be selected, apart to be ensured of university studies in a Mexican technical university, will receive a 6-month training in Spanish and will receive financial support throughout the training period in Mexico.

The results of the selection examination will be announced in the next two weeks and accepted students will begin their training in Mexico from July 15, 2013.
