Haiti - Agriculture : End of Phase II of the ADRA project in Petit-Goâve
Tuesday, June 25, the ADRA (Adventist Development and Relief Agency) regional office in Petit-Goâve, ended during a ceremony at Louco Night club, in the presence of Jean Robert Julien, Martina Mandova, Ketline Israel, agr. Elize Bertrand and many growers from the 2nd and 3rd communal section of Petit-Goâve, the second phase of the agriculture project implemented over a period of 3 years by the NGO. The total cost of these two phases amounts to more than 1 million dollars.

This project helped to transmit knowledge and skills togrowers. 100 facilitators agents (agricultural technicians) have followed 8 modules and acquired knowledge to form each thereafter, 50 growers.

700 other peasants of Trouchouchou, of Savannah, Arnoux, 2nd plaine and 3th communal section of Petit-Goâve, also benefited directly from the Phase II.

This project aimed, among other economic efficiency of agricultural production, supporting and strengthening local organizations by helping them to develop some leadership in their community. 4 experimental farms and 4 agricultural micro-enterprises have been established in rural areas to improve food security.

Through this project, the direct beneficiaries have acquired the ability to write plans, business plans and set up businesses of processing of agricultural products for consumption. The peasants can now, with the appropriation of new technologies, producing more food, market them through processing enterprises and of distribution and support and train other growers.

The peasants warmly thanked the NGO ADRA, who promised to continue to assist thel in all areas of their development.
