Haiti - Security : Towards the Development of a National Security Strategy
On Thursday, Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, chaired an important meeting whose objective is to achieve the development of a national security strategy, in anticipation of the departure of the Minustah.

Among others participated in the meeting: Jean Rodolphe Joazile, the Minister of Defence, Fresnel Jean Baptiste, Director General of Customs, Baptiste Clark Neptune, Director of the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI), Colonel Antoine Atouriste, Director of the Unit for Combating Corruption (ULCC), Claude J. Raymond, Director General of Immigration and Emigration, Léopold Roumer, Director General of the National Agency of Civil Aviation (OFNAC), Godson Orélus, Director General of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), and Erick Chéreska, Chief Inspector General, Me Lucmane Délile, Government Commissioner of Port-au-Prince and that of the Croix-des-Bouquets, Me Leny Thélusma.

"Every sovereign state must necessarily adopt a national security policy. The reflections that will emerge of this meeting will amply demonstrate our ability to take charge our security effectively for the lifting of restrictions of any kind on the country and its exit from Chapter 7 of the UN Charter, which considers Haiti as a threat to peace and security, what, moreover, constitutes a major obstacle to foreign investment," pointed out Laurent Lamothe, who said that efforts are being made ​​to ensure that the police force is ready to ensure the safety of all citizens after the departure of the Minustah.

The Prime Minister also recognized the support and stabilization work carried out by the UN force in the country in recent years, which enabled the political alternation, the maturity of the PNH and the gradual consolidation of our institutions.

The Head of Government, also Chairman of the Superior Council of the National Police (CSPN), stressed the need to think and coordinate national security, that concerns not only the military and police issue, but all the essential administrations to the country.

While calling for the spirit of synergy between national actors involved in the management of the country's security, the Prime Minister has passed formal instructions to the high command of the PNH, to strengthen throughout the national territory the devices for maintain order, in order to continue to reassure the population that now begins to engage in peace to its activities.
