Haiti - Politic : Ralph Théano contest the vote on the extension of the term of senators

Following the August 20 vote in the lower house, of the interpretative law extending the term of senators of one year, which according to the Deputy Gluck Théophile, would have been ratified by 27 votes for, 25 against and 2 abstentions, causing challenge of Deputy Abel Descolines, spokesman of the pro-government majority bloc "Member for Stability and Progress" (PSP) which described this vote of irregular ; it is the turn of Ralph Théano, Minister for Relations with Parliament, to reject this vote.

Théano Minister explained that at the time of vote the quorum was not met, only 29 deputies were present, saying hold records proving his words. According to the Minister, a group of parliamentarians seek to pass this law in haste, stressing that this urgent need to ratify the amendment of the electoral law of 2008, proves if necessary, that the law is well and truly in force. He invited Jean Tolbert Alexis, President of the Lower House to recover and expect the electoral law prepared by the Transitional College Permanent Electoral College (CTCEP) pending approval by the Council of Ministers.

The Deputy Romuald Smith Coordonnateur of the PSP, which was in favor of the resumption of the vote, also confirms that a quorum was reversed at the time of vote and that despite his request to proceed with the roll call before the vote, the President of the Lower House, has chosen to allow the vote without quorum...
