Haiti - Reconstruction : Evaluation Tour of President Martelly in Grand Anse

Monday, in order to assess the infrastructure work undertaken across the country, the President Michel Martelly, accompanied, among others by, Thomas Jacques, Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, Ralph Théano, Minister delegate to the Prime Minister for Relations with Parliament, as well as some members of his Cabinet, the Head of State began a three-day tour in the department of Grand Anse and visited ther works in Duchity, Beaumont and Roseaux.

President Martelly has first observed, the progress of construction work of a bridge over the River Glace. Funded by the Government of Haiti through the Petrocaribe funds to the tune of 2.5 million U.S. dollars, the bridge connects Camp Perrin to Duchity. The President subsequently met several personalities and representatives of organizations of Duchity around the development of the communal section of Pestel.

Warmly welcomed by the citizens of Beaumont, with whom he traveled several kilometers on foot, the Head of State has proceeded to the official opening of a new building, housing the National High School of this town. This new infrastructure, now offers an environment conducive to learning with 18 spacious classrooms framework, a computer lab, a toilet block, a library, a dining room and a multi-sport field.*

In the presence of the Mayor of the town, David Pierre and many personalities of the department, the President Martelly stressed the need to encourage the education of young people, in order to facilitate their development. He promised to continue to work for modern infrastructure and an educational system adapted, taking into account the needs of all strata of the country.

The first day in Grand Anse, also allowed the Head of State to visit the electrical infrastructure in Beaumont and meet representatives of various associations and cooperatives of coffee of the department, about the recovery of the coffee production in Haiti.
