Haiti - Politic : First day of the 11th Council of Ministers of Petrocaribe
Haiti has welcomed Friday the 11th Council of Ministers of Petrocaribe held at the Oasis hotel [September 6 and 7]. Twenty delegations from 18 countries of Petrocaribe area and of 3 countries who wished to be added (Chile, Bolivia, Argentina) are in Port-au-Prince, housed in the Royal Oasis Hotel and Best Western of Petionville.

The 11th meeting of the Council of Ministers Petrocaribe, which focuses on the establishment of the Economic Zone Petrocaribe began Friday at 3:00 pm with an opening ceremony inaugurated by Pierre-Richard Casimir, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Astrobal Chavez, Secretary Executive Petrocaribe and Mrs. Sohail Hernandez, Deputy Minister for the Economy and International Cooperation of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

Mrs. Sohail Hernandez, after explaining the organization of working groups of the second meeting of group Petrocaribe Economic Area (PEA), opened the meeting, which was held behind closed doors until 8:00 pm.

During the first session, three first groups have worked on the following terms of reference :

Transport and Communications :
This program aims to promote among others: productive investment in areas such as air and sea routes, satellite services and telecommunications. In addition, this program structuring can combine efforts to explore opportunities to support business activities and associated transport, through funding mechanisms for exports, freight and insurance.

Production chains :
This program should drive the common productive investment according to the interests of the country, which will result in associative systems among member countries, after having identified the specific areas in every country where there are creative capacity and productive potential in the short and long term, assessing immediate opportunities to complete the commercial trades.

Trade and Integration :
This program aims to give a new dimension in trade relations, to stimulate and develop the solidarity and fair trade of goods and services between members of Petrocaribe countries, taking into account the integration mechanisms to which they belong and other trade agreements and existing economic.

After a short break, the groups have reformed around the topic of Tourism with the objective a program that aims to promote the key actions in a sector which is an important source of income for many members countries of the Petrocaribe Agreement, by promoting joint investment and encouraging the mobilization of the people. These actions are intended to strengthen and deepen cultural ties.

inally, Social and cultural themes, to which Haiti has been designated as a facilitator country, reflected on a structural program, which provides and strengthens the human aspects of integration and a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge among the peoples.

The schedule change of the agenda, due to the preliminary discussions and redevelopment workshops, allowed foreign visitors to enjoy in the morning, the craft show and fair which present, among others, a wide variety of local tubers. The Groups troubadours Plezi Kreyòl, troubadour Layité, troubadour du Fort National and Ti Coca animated the gardens throughout the day, giving to the participants an overview of our local musical richness.

Work resumed on Saturday morning at 9:30 am and will conclude with the conclusions of the 11th Ministerial Council of Petrocaribe in the afternoon.
