Haiti - Security : New Tensions in Petit-Goâve
Monday, September 9, 2013, armed individuals of the of the locality of Curtis of Petit-Goâve, have once again blocked to 2:00 pm the National road #2, which was released shortly after by police. During the police intervention, individuals opened fire on officers of the Departmental Unit of Maintenance of Order (UDMO) wounding by a bullet in the leg a police officer of this special unit. After receiving first aid at the hospital Notre Dame, the victim was transported to Port au Prince. Bullet holes were found on vehicles of the UDMO and of the Minustah.

In addition, around 6:00 pm a professor of French literature, in the lycée Soulouque Faustin, who was returning to Downtown was intercepted at teh level of Maro by heavily armed bandits, most young people who were looking for money and weapons. According to Professor "these individuals possess weapons of war, they are a real danger on the road. This is not a joke, we must put an end to this before it is too late."

Commissioner Frantz Lerebours, spokesman of the National Police (PNH) has indicated that the police had regained control of the situation in Petit-Goâve and announced a strengthening in the staff at the level of the Nationale #2 where operations are ongoing everyday. Revealing that these operations have already resulted in the seizure of 7 firearms. He promised that these interventions would multiply in order to put out of harm these dangerous bandits.
