Haiti - Health : MSPP and the diaspora sign an agreement to Grand Boucan

Thursday, Sophia Martelly, the First Lady of Haiti and Dr. Florence D. Guillaume, Minister of Public Health and Population (MSPP), officially inaugurated a Community Health Centre in Grand Boucan (municipality Department of Nippes), in the presence of Alex Tropnas, Divisional Delegate of Health, Dr. acques Laroche, Dr. Margaret Mallet, Head of Mission of SDSH project, Delvoix Francis, Mayor of the city, some civil, political and religious and members of the population.

The health center has a pharmacy, a delivery room, laboratory, consulting rooms, a room for the archives, an observation room with 6 beds and room for preventive care, including the prevention of malnutrition.

The inauguration trhat follows a visit to the wife of the Head of State in that department last April, was the occasion for Sophia Martelly to thank the Association of Great Boucanais of New York, initiator of this building in 1996 "anplis inogirasyon sa kap fèt jodia, lòt bagay ki fè m' fyè tou, se gras ak dyaspora a, gras ak frè ak sè nou ki pati, ki fè nou gen sant sa."

The First Lady then urged medical staff to make good use of materials and to take care of patients with professionalism and invited the public to protect the building and keep it in a clean state "Menm jan sant sant sa se sant pa nou, se sant popilasyon Gran Boukan, peyi sa se peyi pa nou l ye, se nou k' pou pwoteje l', se nou k' pou jere l', se nou k' pou bal direksyon nou panse ki bon pou l' ale a."

The Health Minister thanked and congratulated Ms. Martelly to have attracted the attention of the Ministry of this Centre, which quickly began work of completion and redevelopment and has provided adequate equipment.

At the end of the opening ceremony, a partnership agreement was signed between the MSPP and the Association of Great Boucanais and a Management Committee was appointed, consisting of 5 members, 3 of Ministry and 2 of the Association of Great Boucanais of the diaspora.
