Haiti - Elections : The President of CTCEP unveiled a Pre-calendar electoral
Tuesday evening on the National Television of Haiti (TNH), Emmanuel Ménard, President of the Transitional College of the Permanent Electoral Council (CTCEP) announced a Pre-calendar electoral which temporarily sets on January 26, 2014 as the likely date for the first round of elections for the renewal of 10 senators and about 130 municipal councils across the country. "After having worked with national natural partners and those of the international community and analyzed the different parameters, given the current situation, the CTCEP, fully gathered in regular session Tuesday, October 1, 2013, decided, in accordance with its mandate, to adopt a Pre-calendar electoral.

Details of the Pre-calendar electoral :

  • OCTOBER: Clearance of arrears of wages of the remaining staff of the Departmental Electoral Offices (BED) and Communal Electoral Offices (BEC) and the rents due.
  • From October 7 to 11: Accreditation of journalists to CTCEP to facilitate access to information.
  • From October 13 to 21: Recruitment of candidates for the complete formation of Departmental Electoral Offices (BED) and the Communal Electoral Offices (BEC).
  • October 15: Start updating the voter list.
  • From October 21 to 31: Registration of political parties and groups wishing to participate in the upcoming elections.
  • October 24: Publication of the list of selected candidates for the admission contest.
  • October 26: Admission contest.
  • October 31: Publication of results.
  • November 4: Sworn of members of BED and BEC.
  • November 4: Publication of the list of registered political parties and groups.
  • DFrom November 5 to 7: Challenging Period.
  • November 9: Publication of the list of parties and Political groups approved by the CTCEP.
  • January 26, 2014: Probable date for holding a first ballot.
