Haiti - Diaspora :  Exploratory visit of a delegation to the Turks and Caicos Islands

A large Haitian delegation composed among others of : Marc-Élie Nelson, the new Director General of the Ministry of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE), Jacques Nixon Myrthil, Adviser to the Prime Minister ; Jean Wilfrid Bertrand, Director General of the National Archives of Haiti ; Fortuné Dorléan, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ; Jean Roudy Aly, Director General of the Ministry of Justice and Public Safety ; Jean-Baptiste Saint-Cyr, Director General of the National Identification Office (ONI), involved in the identification of the Diaspora project, went to the Turk and Caicos Islands, from 22 to 28 October 2013 for an exploratory visit.

Moreover, the delegation also wanted to inquire about the situation of thousands of our compatriots living in difficult conditions in these islands.

During their stay, the Haitian delegation spoke with members of the government of Turk and Caicos Islands, local elected officials, representatives of religious sectors and community organizations for a better understanding of the situation of our compatriots and identify with them, the appropriate place for the implementation of Pilot Project of Identification of the diaspora.
