Haiti - Diplomacy : Special Meeting of the Bureau of the Conference of Heads of State

Monday, President Michel Martelly, left the country for Trinidad and Tobago, to participate, as outgoing President of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) at a special meeting of the Bureau of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Caribbean Community, which will be held this Tuesday, Nov. 26, in the capital Port of Spain to discuss the effects of TC/0168/13 judgment passed by the Dominican Constitutional Court on September 23, which could put a considerable number of Dominican citizens of Haitian descent in a situation of statelessness.

This one-day meeting will be chaired by the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, the current Chairman of CARICOM, assisted by other members of the Bureau, the President Martelly and Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves (next President of the CARICOM).

President Martelly should be back home on Tuesday evening.
