Haiti - Social : Laurent Lamothe met voodoo sector
After talking openly and sincerely with the Episcopal Conference and several representatives of women's organizations in the afternoon of Tuesday, November 26, 2013, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe met the National Confederation of Haitian voodoo practitioners Wednesday afternoon, to the Primature. These three first 3 meetings falls within the framework of a series of meetings initiated by the Head of Government with the organized sectors of civil society.

The Prime Minister put from the outset this series of social talks in the context of maintaining political stability that promotes the Head of State, essential to the sustainability of various social programs implemented for the population as well as various projects in the ten departments of the country.

The 'vodouisants' took the floor against any speech consisting in further divide the Haitian Nation and also took the opportunity to invite the various sectors of national life to prioritize the path of dialogue in order to redress the national boat. Abundant in the same direction as the Prime Minister Lamothe, the "Mambo" Euvonie Georges Auguste, solemnly declared that our ancestors, including Dessalines and Petion, founded this Republic, where all are free and in solidarity, against any acceptance of epidermal nuances, membership classes, gender or sexual orientation.



During the meeting, members of the Confederation sought the support of the Administration Martelly and of Government Lamothe in order to perform several vital projects such as reforestation of sacred forests of the country. They also sought the intervention of Prime Minister, defender of the principle of inclusion of all, for that voodoo practitioners can finally have their own schools, bless their marriage, celebrate their funeral and legally baptize their progenies in the peristyles and "Lakou".

The Head of Government, for its part, promised to incorporate 2,000 mothers of "Lakou" among the poorest in the social programs whose "Ti manman cherie". He also plans to distribute 2,000 "emergency Vouchers" and/or "Panye solidarite". Also, he deceided to open 10 community restaurants for the benefit of voodoo practitioners. It is noteworthy that each restaurant will create eight jobs directly, in addition to providing 500 meals a day at ten gourdes dish.

The National Confederation of voodoo practitioners is committed to working with the Administration Martelly for maintaining the atmosphere of peace prevailing in the country since the accession to power of Michel Martelly. "It is the duty of Vodou to contribute to improving the living conditions of the Haitian people, especially the most vulnerable," stressed the "Mambo" Euvonie Georges Auguste.

After this historic meeting, the Prime Minister decided to form a monitoring committee in order to continue dialogue with the voodoo sector and gradually meet its demands.
