Haiti - Boxing : The Combate of Adonis Stevenson in Haiti in September if...
Promoter Yvon Michel (Groupe GYM) announced last week, wanting focus its efforts on the holding of a combate of Stevenson (aka Superman) in Haiti in September, stressing that his group was working for some time to develop this project, to which Stevenson, of Haitian of origin, takes enormously. He stressed that for this project to become a reality, it will be necessary that the organizers in Haiti meet a series of conditions for logistics.

"There is a very important political will there, but we start from afar. Throughout the history of Haiti, there was never any international sporting event broadcast outside."

Explaining that in Haiti "[...] they would like to use the event to demonstrate the tourist qualities of Haiti [...] When we go on vacation in the Caribbean, we always think of Cuba or the Dominican Republic. But no one puts in its objectives to go to Haiti. [...] They would like to also use Adonis as an inspiration for the people there. This is an opportunity for them to discover one of their own, which reached the highest peaks."

If Haitian organizers meet all the requirements, Stevenson (26-1, 21 KOs) could face the South African of 27 years Thomas Oosthuizen (24-0-2, 14 KOs) either 12, 19 or 29 September 2015.

If the project fails, GYM is planning a meeting at the end of July or beginning of August to present the next combate of Stevenson against an opponent to be determined. This potential combate could take place in the US rather than in Quebec.
