Haiti - Dominican Republic : Still no date for the beginning of repatriations...

Wednesday, Ruben Silié Valdez, the Dominican ambassador accredited to Port-au-Prince stated that the repatriation of foreigners in a irregular migratory situation (Haitian and other nationalities) not registered in the National Plan of Regularization of Foreigners (PNRE) had not yet begun, without giving a date for the beginning of these operations.

However, it can be estimated as probable, that the repatriations could begin after July 6 (end date of the voluntary return plan) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-14325-haiti-politic-private-bus-and-free-moving-for-voluntary-returns.html or early August, after the 45-day period granted by the Dominican authorities, after the close of registration at PNRE (17 June 2015), to allow enrolled applicants to complete their application https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-14248-haiti-social-our-compatriots-have-deserted-the-streets.html

Furthermore, the Dominican ambassador stated that the Haitians, who have chosen to return to Haiti since June 18 [25.517 people at June 28 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-14364-haiti-flash-over-25-000-voluntary-returns.html ] do it voluntarily, for fear of being repatriated, but they have not been chased from Dominican territory, contrary to some rumors suggest...

According to Edwin Parison, the President of the Foundation ZILE, thousands of people back in Haiti are motivated by fear of being repatriated and to escape possible violence related to this process.
