Haiti - African Union : Review of the Mission of the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe
At the 22nd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union held in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), 30 and 31 January 2014. Within the framework and on the sidelines of this Conference, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe has conducted numerous meetings and working sessions with among others :

Senegal's President Macky Sall :

Others are in a difficult situation, either because of the resumption of classes they did not succeed, or of their refusal to return home. The President of Senegal was very open to finding appropriate solutions. He expressed the hope that those graduates are directed towards the contest of the Haitian public administration. The two men also discussed the socio-political situation in their respective country and agreed to establish partnerships in the fields of agriculture and fisheries. A cooperation agreement will soon be developed between the two States.



The Chancellor of Turkey Ahmet Davutoğlu :
Laurent Lamothe also met Ahmet Davutoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey. Discussions were held about the possibilities of deepening cooperation between the two country and on an offer to participate in the establishment of an Embassy of Haiti in this country. due to the presence of nearly a hundred diplomatic missions. The Turkish Chancellor announced to the Prime Minister Lamothe the granting of a dozen scholarships for Haiti and solicited Haiti's participation in the program of young diplomats set up in his country. Ahmet Davutoğlu indicated that he consider the possibility to visit Haiti and strongly wished the support of Haiti for the candidacy of Turkey to a non-permanent member of the Security Council for the period 2015/2016 whose elections will take place in September. The Prime Minister noted the offers made ​​by the Chancellor and confirmed his interlocutor, that they will be forwarded to the President Martelly.

Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, the President of the Commission of the African Union :
During his meeting with the Commission of the African Union, Prime Minister Lamothe has expressed the the interest of Haiti to join the African Union as an associate member and hoped that the status of this organization is amended to permit the realization of this project. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, the President of the Commission of the African Union has been open to this perspective and welcomed Haiti's participation in the conference. It was also question of agriculture, food security and social assistance. The Chief of the Haitian Government has promised to send a Haitian diplomatic mission to the African Union.

Chancellor of Benin Nassirou Bako-Arifari :
With the Chancellor of Benin, Nassirou Bako-Arifari, Laurent Lamothe discussed the situation of Haitian students in this country and the record of the accession of Haiti to the African Union. Benin Chancellor shared the legitimate aspirations of Haiti to become an associate member of the African Union and reiterated the support of his country. Nassirou Bako-Arifari invited the Haitian government to attend a ministerial conference on the productive capacity of Least Developed Countries (LDCs) to be held in Cotonou from 28 to 31 July 2014.

The South African President Jacob Zuma :
Finally, the Prime Minister of Haiti, met with South African President Jacob Zuma with whom he discussed of the strengthening of the cooperation between the two states and requested technical assistance of his country for the modernization of mining and also wished benefit from the expertise of South Africa in the social field.

During the meeting, President Jacob Zuma announced the imminent establishment of a South African Embassy in Haiti. Laurent Lamothe transmitted an invitation of President Michel Martelly for an official visit to Haiti.
