Haiti - Social : Sophia Martelly explore avenues for cooperation with Taiwan

On Tuesday, the First Lady, Sophia Martelly, which accompanied the Head of State in the framework of his visit to Taiwan (Republic of China), went to he Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, the Tsu Chi Foundation and Veterans General Hospital, Taipei.

At the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, Sophia Martelly was welcomed by Wen-Ta Chiuwhich congratulated her for his involvement in the health. First Lady thanked the Taiwanese Ministry for its support to Haiti and took the opportunity to request a sharing of experiences, particularly in the management of Reception Centres and communal shelters. She also requested technical assistance for health workers in family planning, a request approved by the Minister Wen-Ta Chiu.

In addition, Ms. Martelly visited the Tsu Chi Foundation [China's largest NGO] working in the office for over forty years. During this visit, she met with officials of the Foundation and taken note of their knowledge, in order to bring them to he benefit of Haitians.

Thereafter, accompanied by the First Lady of the Republic of China, Ms. Chow Mei-ching/MA, the wife of the Head of State of Haiti attended a brief presentation of the Veterans General Hospital Taipei and different realizations of the hospital.

Sophia Martelly, who works in the social for over twenty years, took advantage of these tours and exchanges, to inquire to the maximum in order to transpose and adjust as necessary, Taiwanese experiences judged as positive, at the level of Haitian institutions working in the same fields.
