Haiti - Diaspora Canada : 8th Edition of the «Festival Haïti en fête»

Monday, Royal Galipeau, Member of Parliament (Ottawa–Orléans), announced that the Government of Canada, under the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program provides support up to 11,200 dollars to "Kombite Outaouais", organizer of the 8th edition of the "Festival Haïti en fête". These funds will help "Kombite Outaouais" to present a variety of musical and dance performances, which will highlight the Haitian culture for the duration of this activity, which runs from July 18 to 20, 2014 on Petrie Island, an island in the Ottawa River east of the City of Ottawa.

Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages declared "We are delighted to continue to support the Haïti en Fête festival. Today’s announcement clearly shows that we are serious about supporting organizations that contribute to the cultural and economic vitality of their communities."

"By investing in the Haïti en Fête festival, the Government of Canada is showing its support for this event, which offers a unique cultural experience and stimulates the local economy by attracting thousands of people to Eastern Ontario," stressed Royal Galipeau, Member of Parliament (Ottawa–Orléans).

"The festival continues to survive thanks to grants from the different levels of government, in particular the federal government through the financial support of Canadian Heritage. The Haitian community is grateful for this support, which allows us to showcase our community’s cultural contribution to our wonderful new home," explained Edy Joachim one of teh founder of "Kombite Outaouais".
