Haiti - Security : Towards the strengthening of security in prisons
This expanded CSPN, held following the capture of four escapees, including Clifford Brandt, https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11804-haiti-security-it-s-the-dominican-army-that-captured-clifford-brandt.html was an opportunity for the Head of Government to share with Haiti's partners, the steps taken by the Government to accelerate the hunt for other fugitives from the prison of Croix-des-Bouquets https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11795-haiti-security-329-escapees-the-government-explains-video.html and strengthen security in the prison facilities, to prevent a similar occurrence.
As part of the security features that the Government intends to adopt in prisons, it is planned among others :
the installation of surveillance cameras (indoor and outdoor) and the wearing of electronic bracelet for inmates.
The Prime Minister presented other measures to curb banditry and attacks against Haitians and foreigners. To this end, he intends to strengthen the coastal and borders control and surveillance "To do this, the President of the Republic and me, we solicit the support of our partners involved in security."
Commending the capture of Clifford Brandt, between Jimani and Hondo Valle (Dominican Republic) during operations between the National Police and the Dominican armed forces, the Prime Minister praised the partnership agreement between Haiti and the neighboring Republic, within the binational dialogue that, last February 3, resulted in the declaration of Jimani https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-10452-haiti-politic-talks-binational-declarations-and-some-agreements.html where both parties have reached an agreement for cooperation between the police of the two countries, based inter alia on joint operations, exchange of information, intelligence, looking for criminals and fugitives.
