Recently, the Consul General of the Republic of Haiti in Suriname, Alex Jospitre, participated in the major event: "Unity among Believers" which brought together 4 Haitian Churches, more than 10 Pastors and Religious Authorities and an impressive number of compatriots.

In his speech, Consul JOSPITRE praised his compatriots, especially the Religious Authorities who embraced his cause which aims to strengthen the Haitian Community in Suriname through the unity.

The Head of Mission urged his Compatriots to work together in order to better exploit their knowledge and many talents to create a class of investors in the Haitian community as it is the case with other groups composing the multiethnic population of Suriname :

"Among you there are farmers, but also hairdressers, tailors, bakers, artisans, cooks, painters, musicians ...; it is not normal that, till now, small or medium Haitian businesses are virtually nonexistent in Suriname, even in the informal sector."

In conclusion, the Consul Jospitre reminded the Haitian Community that the Consulate is ready to assist and has even established interesting contacts with the Ministry of Education and Community Development, the Chamber of Commerce and Cooperatives of Suriname to this effect.
