Haiti - Diplomacy : Haiti request an observer status in the Pacific Alliance 12/10/2014 11:48:05
Wednesday, on the sidelines of the Second Session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission Haiti-Mexico, Duly Brutus, the Foreign Minister has delivered to his Mexican counterpart, Jose Antonio Meade Kuribena, a letter in which the Government of Haiti, asks to be admitted as an observer in the Pacific Alliance.
That same day, the Chancellor Brutus had said at a joint press conference with Meade, that the Government saw with "special attention" the Pacific Alliance, formed in 2012 by Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Chile.
The Haitian Minister whose this is the first visit to Mexico, stressed "The big problem for Central America and the Caribbean is to be heard [...] If you compare its geographical size and the economic power in North America and South America, we are at a very low level, what xplains why we need strategic alliances in the North and South."
Recall that this diplomatic visit, responds to that made by the Chancellor Meade in Haiti in March https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-10720-haiti-news-some-news-here-and-there.html it also coincides with the 85th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Haiti and Mexico.
