Haiti - Montreal : Symposium on the contribution of the Haitian diaspora in the quality of education
Last Saturday Vision Citadelle, an NGO based in Montreal, working in the field of education, agriculture and the environment, organized a symposium on the contribution of the Haitian diaspora in the quality of education.

About 150 people took part in this event which was held November 8, 2014 in Downtown Montreal, including representatives of the Government of Canada, Province of Quebec, the Group of reflection and action for a new Haiti (GRAHN Quebec) and various members of the Haitian community based in Montreal.

This symposium was an opportunity for Miloody Vincent, the Director of Communications at the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP) to present an overview of the situation in Haiti's education sector. Clarifications were made especially on educational reform in conjunction with the twelve major measures https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11781-haiti-education-exam-results-disappointing-the-minister-manigat-announced-a-package-of-measures.html of the Minister Nesmy Manigat concerning the improvement of the quality and governance of the education sector.

Professional training and initiatives to boost the sector of higher education were, moreover, at the center of exchanges. The participants expressed their satisfaction with the quality of the work and contribution of MENFP in terms of information on the evolution of education sector.

They say they support the efforts of the Minister Manigat with the government's contribution to the renovation of the education sector in the hope that the initiatives are sustainable and that the whole of society will follow for the benefit of children.

"It was time for the Haitian school reborn, so that schools again become true temples of learning with teachers and competent and qualified directors," says an expatriate rolling on his 25 years of experience in education and dreaming to return to Haiti to contribute.

Many retirees in the field of education have expressed, in this sense, the desire to participate in extensive training site launched by MENFP, following the introduction of the license to teach (PE) where all teachers must follow a training program spread over two years to get this permit.
