Haiti - Sports : XXII Central American games, not easy for our athletes

Monday at the XXII Central American and Caribbean Games, which take place in Veracruz, Mexico, our Haitian athletes participated in competitions: decathlon (men), 100 meters (women), weightlifting (women), 5000 m (men) and boxing.

Decathlon Athletics (cat. Man) :

Josué Louis, participated for Haiti in the competitions that took place at the "Stadium Heriberto Jara Corona"

100m (serie 1/2) :

Josué Louis, finished 3rd with a time of 11.13 (832 points), surpassed by the Dominican Juan Carlos De la Cruz (10.91) and the Cuban Yordanis Garcia (10.71).

Long Jump :

With 6.81 meters (769 points) Josué was ranked 7th out of 10 (769 points). The best jump was performed by Gayell Engeso (Suriname) with 7.37 meters.

Shot Put :

Josué Louis ranked 10th and last with 12.06 meters (610 points). The best launch was carried out by the Cuban Yordanis Garcia with 15.54 meters.

High jump :

In High Jump Josué finished 3rd with a jump to 2 meters (803 points), just after the Cuban Yordanis Garcia 2.03 and Adolphus Jones of St. Kitts and Nevis with 2.12 meters.

400 m (1/2 series) :

In the 400m with a time of 51.69 seconds (726 points), Josué could not do better than 4th place. The best time was achieved by the Cuban Yordanis Garcia with 48.17 seconds.

The decathlon competitions will continue on Tuesday. Currently Josué Louis is ranked 6th out of 10 with 3,752 points 581 points behind the leader.

Athletics 100m (cat. Woman) :

At 100 meters, our compatriot Marlena Hilari Wesh was eliminated by finishing the race in 12.80 seconds, the 8th and last rank.

Weightlifting (cat. Women) :

Snatch :

In weightlifting, at "Coatzacoalcos convention center", to two possibilities medals for Haiti in the women category 75 kg snatch, Medgina Celestin age 16 [2 July 1998] missed her first attempt at 78kg, achieved her 2nd 80kg at 80kgand her 3rd at 85kg, ranking 4th. The Colombian Ubaldina Valoyes in first place, managed to snatch 110kg.

Clean and jerk :

Medgina also participated in the clean and jerk in her category, she managed her first try with 97kg, her second at 100kg and missed the 3rd at 102kg, finishing to the 5th and last place. The Colombian Ubaldina Valoyes in first place has achieved an clean and jerk of 133kg.

Athletics 5,000m (cat. Man) :

At 5,000 meters the Haitian Mark Henry Allen clocked a time of 15:35.93 minutes (8th of 9). The race was won by the Mexican Juan Luis Barrios with a time of 14:15.98, followed by Colombian Ivan Dario Gonzalez 14:25.16 and Mario Pacay 14:27.34. Haiti still misses a chance to get a medal in that race.

Boxing :

Snood Duqueney, in the category Welter-69kg (welterweight) faced in the ring of the "World Trade Center Veracruz," the Puerto Rican Flaz Nicklaus. In the first round Snood Duqueney got 9-9-9 and 10-10-10 Puerto Rican, the fight has not continued, Snood was put in technical knockout (KTO) in 0:02 by Nicklaus Flaz who wins.

Recall that until now Haiti won three bronze medals, one in judo (Linouse Desravine) and 2 in weightlifting (Luciano Edouar Joseph). There are still 5 days of competition and some hopes of medal still possible for Haiti.
