Haiti - Politic : «Haiti will continue to be proudly standing» dixit Michaëlle Jean 13/01/2015 11:15:51
On the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the earthquake that struck Haiti on 12 January 2010, Michaëlle Jean, Secretary General of La Francophonie, reiterated the Francophonie commitment to Haiti, a member of the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF) "Five years after this terrible tragedy that struck Haiti, I want to say to all Haitians that we have not forgotten them. The world, and the Francophone Community in particular, have not forgotten them." The IOFhas never ceased to intensify its support to Haitiin the aftermath of January 2010 earthquake, especially for the consolidation of the rule of law and democracy. In this respect, Michaëlle Jean encourages the efforts made to reach, in a consensual manner, to an exit of the lasting political crisis which resulted on 11 January 2015, by an agreement to create the organizational conditions as soon as possible, of free, reliable, inclusive and transparent eclections https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12922-haiti-politic-the-executive-signs-an-agreement-with-4-opposition-parties.html She recalls in this respect, the availability of the OIF, to continue to support and accompany the Haitian authorities to hold the next elections "I call again for dialogue and the sense of responsibility of all Haitian political actors. I am convinced that, despite the difficulties, despite the obstacles, Haiti will continue to be proudly standing. The strength of solidarity will make this country even more beautiful and stronger."
