Haiti - Politic : Evans Paul, ready to meet with Aristide...

On Tuesday, the Prime Minister appointed Evans Paul met with journalist David Make Faden of AP, who asked about the failure of Parliament https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12934-haiti-politic-it-s-over-the-curtain-fell-on-the-parliament.html "Today we have a responsibility to make every effort to create a stable environment where all actors can easily find themselves [...] there are no insurmountable crisis."

Regarding the possibility of a meeting with former President Jean Bertrand Aristide, Evans Paul said "Aristide is a former president, a former ally. I consider him as an important entity. I am ready to meet at any time to discuss the best interests of the Nation... As Prime Minister, I will always willing to talk to any citizen."

Concerning calls to the mobilization of the radical opposition https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12943-haiti-politic-the-opposition-is-preparing-to-overthrow-the-government.html https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12947-haiti-politic-several-demonstrations-and-strikes-planned.html Evans Paul supports the legitimacy of the occupation of public space for the purpose of claims "It is a right guaranteed by the Constitution" while rejecting, violent and chaotic methods that are not tolerated in any democratic society. "The right to protest should not be used as a vein to cause trouble and create disorder."

Wednesday in an interview with journalist Michel Gendre of "Martinique 1ère", Evans Paul reassured that Haiti did not have to worry. "I have every right to run for the post of Prime Minister, notwithstanding the Parliament's dysfunction. With political parties leaders, who understand the urgency of the situation, we work extra hard to establish an inclusive government in the shortest possible time," giving the guarantees that the 144 political parties, without exception, will feel comfortable.

In relation to the reconstruction balance, he admitted that it was difficult to make a comprehensive assessment of the situation "However, I think the results are satisfactory. Former Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe sent me a portfolio of a thousand projects that I am currently analyzing thoroughly. We will operate in priority order with an overall sense of vision in the interest of the Haitian people."
