The President Martelly thanked interim Prime Minister Florence Duperval Guillaume and all retired ministers who worked with him "The country will always need your expertise and your sense of leadership [...] you have done an outstanding job and I thank you immensely." The President Martelly, speaking of the new Head of Government declared "We have confidence in him and we are sure he will pull out of the game [...] We are with him and we will give him all the necessary means to successful work [...]" Prime Minister Paul thanked President Martelly for the confidence placed in his person for the job, which requires, according to him, many sacrifices "If the president has chosen me as Prime Minister, it is because it is able to transcend differences and to stand above personal interests [...] This is that behavior of grandeur that made him the great Head of state it is today." In his speech, Evans Paul promised among other to work to the welfare of the people and to work hand in hand with the Head of State; strengthen social programs put in place by the previous government; to work for the good organization of elections in the country. He announced the formation of his Consensus government in the next 48 hours, noting that major opposition figures will be part of the new cabinet. Listen the speech of Evans Paul : Learn more about Evans Paul : Aged 59, Paul Evans (aka K-Plim) was born in Port-au-Prince on November 26, 1955. Born into a poor family, he spent part of his childhood in Morne Rouge, the First Communal Section of Plaine du Nord. Author and director, Evans Paul founded and directed the theater company KPK Konbit Pitit Kay from 1977 to 1998. Self-taught in Sociology and Political Science, he holds a certificate from Harvard. Co-founder of Komite Inite Demokratik (KID) in 1986, became Konfederasyon Inite Demokratik (KID) in 1987, Party Konvansyon Inite Demokratik (KID) since 1995. Mayor-elect Port-au-Prince with 88% of votes in 1990. On his four-year term, he could not perform his duties for about a year and a half. In 1986, he participated as a political activist to the departure of the dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier. Considered close to former President Jean Bertrand Aristide, it is a time tipped to succeed him before becoming a political enemy and being arrested in 1988, under the military government of Prosper Avril; he is tortured and presented among other opponents to the state television as the 'prisoners of All Saints' In 2006 he was a candidate in the presidential election where he received 2.5% of votes.
