Haiti - Justice : The IGPNH strengthens fight against bad police officers

Thursday, Chief Inspector Marc-Wilckens Jean Wilckens Spokesperson for the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPNH) (the police of the police) revealed to the press that for the month of January the IGPNH had treated 54 cases. 9 recommendations of revocation against police officers were sent to the General Directorate of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), including 3 against police officers for drug trafficking and introduction of mobile phones in civilian prisons in Port-au-Prince and Croix-des-Bouquets. Two have already been approved pending the Ministry of Justice deal with these cases. He said that other officers were placed in isolation for rape, homicide and gunshot wounds.

Stressing that the number of cases processed and transmitted to the PNH experienced a net increase from 28 in January 2014 against 54 in January 2015, is explained by the use of new information technologies and communication.
