Haiti - Justice : The IGPNH strengthens fight against bad police officers 30/01/2015 12:59:48
Thursday, Chief Inspector Marc-Wilckens Jean Wilckens Spokesperson for the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPNH) (the police of the police) revealed to the press that for the month of January the IGPNH had treated 54 cases. 9 recommendations of revocation against police officers were sent to the General Directorate of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), including 3 against police officers for drug trafficking and introduction of mobile phones in civilian prisons in Port-au-Prince and Croix-des-Bouquets. Two have already been approved pending the Ministry of Justice deal with these cases. He said that other officers were placed in isolation for rape, homicide and gunshot wounds. Stressing that the number of cases processed and transmitted to the PNH experienced a net increase from 28 in January 2014 against 54 in January 2015, is explained by the use of new information technologies and communication. The police of the police reiterated its commitment to be present on the sites that host pre-carnival activities as well as the parade of the three fat days 15, 16 and 17 February, to reduce the number of police misconduct. He announced that the IGPNH apply the zero tolerance rules and sanctions will be taken against any police officer that will held a brutal behavior or who will be guilty of misconduct during the 3 days of festivities. Finally, he invited the public to report any misconduct of a police officer by calling : 22-59-11-11 or 22-60-11-11 HL/ HaitiLibre
