Haiti - Social : National funeral, emotions and solidarity

Saturday, President Michel Martelly accompanied by his wife Sophia Martelly and Prime Minister, Evans Paul, in the presence, among others, of parents of victims, musicians, artists, members of the Government, representatives of several religious confessions as well as personalities from various sectors of national life and the diplomatic corps, attended the National funeral of the 17 victims of the tragic accident occurred on Tuesday February at Champ-de-Mars, on the second day of the National Carnival Parade https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-13199-haiti-flash-carnival-2015-in-shock-at-least-15-victims-dozens-injured-update-12-28-pm.html

This unique and solemn ceremony, which took place in the vicinity of the accident site, was an opportunity for the Head of State to greet with great emotion the families of the deceased. He shared the pain of the bereaved families and testified them his sympathy and encouragement in this painful moment "It is a duty for me to be with the victims' families during this difficult time. That our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims in this hour of grief. May the bereaved find comfort in the testimony of affection of an entire people."

The Administration Martelly, the Government Paul and the whole country welcomed the departure of 17 young compatriots : Jeudy Perterson, Joseph Jeff Darel, Lundy Borgella, Cénat Pegyve, Cedieu Joseph, Johny Hilaire, Alain Paul, Alice Bureau, Jean Rony Civil, Felix Origène, Fedelyn Joseph, Rosier Axianax, Yanick Ferdinand, Jasmine Capitaine, Kenson Thermidor, Louis René and Gabriel Jacques Leconte.

Moreover, Prime Minister Paul informed that most of those injured in the tragic accident had left the hospital, he currently remains hospitalized 6 people (3 to Hospital OFATMA 3 to Hospital La Pai). Evans Paul took the opportunity to reiterate the state's commitment to support the families of the victims who, from the first hours after the event, have benefited from the full support of the State.
