Haiti - Economy : The APN on all fronts to strengthen its capacity...
Monday, during the weekly press conference of the Ministry of Communication, Alix Célestin, the Director General of the National Port Authority (APN) spoke first on the training of its some 800 employees, noting that this approach is essential to implement at APN, so that it can meet the new port infrastructure management standards in the area. According Alix Célestin "the APN wishes to raise the level of its employees through training to face regional competition."

Then he stated that the APN has just completed the ports of Petit-Goâve/Jérémie. Furthermore, important steps have already been arrested for the rehabilitation and management of the port of Cap-Haitien "a tender for its management is coming soon," told Alix Célestin before speaking of port facilities of Port-au-Prince.

He recalled that the reconstruction of the port of Port-au-Prince, destroyed in the earthquake of January 2010, was one of the largest construction sites of the APN. Informing that the work of the first phase should be completed shortly, provide inter alia the installation of new infrastructures and dredging of the harbor to accommodate large ships.
