Haiti - Security : Aviation security is becoming more professional in Haiti
Friday at a ceremony, the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) and the Academy of Aviation Sciences (ASCA) have graduated a group of 13 Haitian students of the "Basic Course of Air Traffic Control of Aerodrome and of Approach procedure of procedural Zone" taught by Dominican professors for 8 months.

Jean Olivier, the new Director of the National Office of Civil Aviation (OFNAC) of Haiti thanked on behalf of Haiti, the facilities offered by Dominican aviation authorities. Recalling that the Haitian students had received training in the facilities of ASCA in Punta Caucedo, in the framework of bilateral agreements between the aeronautical authorities of both countries "what constitutes a new stage in relations between the two nations that share the island [...]" urging graduates to serve their nation with professionalism and performance which will contribute to achieving this noble and delicate mission [...]"

Juan Cesar Thomas Burgos, the Director of ASCA, stressed the importance of this type of collaboration and the interest for the Study Centre to be a benchmark throughout the Caribbean and Latin America, for training professional civil aviation "We are honored that you have chosen our school of specialization andcontinuing education. Thank you for your confidence brought to our staff and our facilities [...]"

César Martínez Vicioso, the instructor in charge of the training of Haitian controllers stressed the sacrifice that means all tyhe hour of study, the efforts of teachers and students. Ralph Joseph André, spokesman of the students expressed gratitude and satisfaction for him and his colleagues to have successfully completed the course of air traffic controller.
