Haiti - Dominican Republic : Andrés Navarro denies the statements of the Haitian Chancellor

Friday Andrés Navarro, Dominican Minister of Foreign Affairs, after leaving the office of President Danilo Medina to submit a report and evaluate the situation of the National Plan for Regularization of Foreigners (PNRE) in irregular migratory situation, said that the objective of his visit Saturday in Haiti, to meet with Haitian authorities, was not to negotiate or sign a repatriation protocol as was suggested by the Haitian Chancellor Lener Renaud "Apparently in Haiti spreads misinformation. What we have agreed is to go to Port-au-Prince to advance the agenda of the bilateral dialogue on a number of issues that are unresolved and this is an opportunity to inform the Haitian authorities on the balance sheet of Regularisation Plan."

He indicated that he will head the Commission in which will also be present the Director of Immigration, General Paulino Sem Rubén Darío and officials of the Ministry of Interior and Police.

The Chancellor Navarro stressed that once completed the Regularisation Plan, the Migration Law will be applied normally, which means the repatriation of all migrants in an irregular migratory situation, that will not be properly regulated "To these ends, we will do it, obviously in the mechanism of surrender of persons in coordination with the Republic of Haiti. So, what we will do, is discuss this mechanism, because the Dominican government will give all the guarantees of respect for human rights for all migrants, which for some reason, should be repatriated to their country of origin."
