On Friday, President Michel Martelly accompanied particularly by the Prime Minister Evans Paul and the Minister of National Education, Nesmy Manigat, proceeded to the inauguration of the new premises of the Lycée Toussaint Louverture, at Quartier Ste-Anne, to the street Saint-Honoré.

In his speech the Head of State declared "A quality school for a quality country requires that all children in the country ountry found a good school. We need the citizens of Haiti understand the development we seek, that the base is education. We were able to make over a million primary school students to go to school on public funding. The net enrollment rate increased from 77% to 90%...

As education involves the participation of all, the management of the Lycée must be inclusive. Administrators, teachers, students, parents of students have to work together. The direction of the school and the teaching staff have a responsibility to raise the level of education provided in this temple of knowledge."

Through these buildings, I think of the precursor of our independence who wanted to build a great nation with free men and proud of themselves, serving as a beacon for all mankind."

Before cutting the inaugural ribbon, and the visit of the new High School, the Head of State stressed the need to raise the quality of education, through an appropriate program, which must take into account the training of staff teachers, an appropriate curriculum and a modern working environment.

The Prime Minister, Evans Paul praised the Lycée Toussaint Louverture, for his participation in the formation of a large part of the Haitian intelligentsia and commended the efforts of President Martelly to the promotion of education and training of young people in Haiti.

In his speech, Nesmy Manigat, the Minister of National Education, reported a series of measures that will be taken into account for the proper functioning of the institution. Steps are also taken to accompany the students during their training.

The reconstruction of the high school Toussaint Louverture, started in 2013 was performed by the firm IBT Group Haiti, office of the multinational IBT (headquartered in Miami FL) under the supervision of CSA Group, the Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation, acting as contractor and funded to the tune of $7 million from the PetroCaribe funds.

The Lycée houses 22 classrooms, directorate, censorship, an infirmary, a Secretariat, a conference room, a library, of science laboratories among others... Toussaint Louverture High School has 300 students in basic education and 2,800 secondary students for the 2 vacations (21 classrooms in the morning and 22 classrooms in the evening).
