![]() Haiti - Elections : Formal and immediate withdrawal of Dr Marie Antoinette Gautier 24/10/2015 08:28:58
"[...] Since the blatant failure of legislative elections of 9 August 2015, the party has developed considerable doubt vis-à-vis the electoral process. However, we chose to continue and get involved in this process to further strengthen democracy in Haiti while taking advantage of sharing the main ideals of our organization to the youth, workers and professionals, women's and social organizations, to our brothers and sisters in the diaspora and / or to all Haitians who have chosen to seriously believe in the emergence of a new Haiti focused on the rule of law, social justice and respect for fundamental rights of the human person or democratic and republican standards. These various principles raised are for us the only path that can lead the country out of its economic slump and its institutional and mental underdevelopment, they are also considered as major obstacles to the progress of our society after more than two centuries of widespread underdevelopment and repetition of the same historical mistakes. PAC is our active contribution, citizens and above all an alternative to the political or cultural marronnage. Today, after several meetings, discussions and votes at the level of multiple coordination of base of party and in deliberation of the Executive Committee, our electoral commission and the council of elders, in accordance with the internal laws of the party decided to do FORMAL AND IMMEDIATE WITHDRAWAL of our presidential candidate Dr Marie Antoinette Gautier from the presidential race. This decision having received the unanimously, the support of all delegates and active members of the party was taken because of serious legal and administrative errors by the candidate and mainly members of his campaign team, in occurrence the Divisional Commissioner of the PNH, Marie Louise Gautier (Campaign Coordinator), Mr. Claude Veillard (Chief of campaign) and Origene Mickel (delegate of campaign). Dr. Gautier and her team have failed unfortunately to respect the ideological and administrative lines of the party, as agreed. Because illegal acts also made during the latter stages of the electoral race, our legal team decided to take legal action relating thereto upon publication of this note. Notwithstanding, in parallel, our electoral commission has already informed the CEP of that decision and will provide it with the necessary documents soon to serve and to assert that right. Currently, PAC does not withdraws from the electoral race, on the contrary, we have followed at the invitation of another presidential candidate. We also want to strengthen the alliance whose other party grassroots organizations wanted to finalize waiting a few weeks for the same candidate [...]" indicates a statement signed by Moïse Garçon, President of PAC.
