Haiti - FLASH : Elections on violence background in Petit-Goâve... #HaitiElections
Situation in Petit-Goave by our correspondent Guyto Mathieu. The elections began this morning at Petit-Goâve on a violence background, of tensions, clashes between supporters of the two candidates for deputy of Petit-Goâve : Jacques Stevenson Thimoléon and fils Alexandre.

Shots were heard at around 10:00 am near the voting center École Nationale des frères, according to reports the police had to fire into the air to disperse a crowd of supporters-voters very hostile, preparing to attack the vehicle of Thimoléon, which would vote at the École Nationale des frères... Tensions have intensified thereafter, because according to some voters who were waiting in line, the candidate would have spent too much time at the polling place... Other unconfirmed reports suggest that a supporter of candidate Thimoléon would have also fired. No gunshot wound were made during these incidents... Remember that earlier this morning, disturbances erupted in Vialet, Marose, Delates, (7th communal section). In the voting centers of downtown and of communal sections, police is needed in reinforcements. Many citizens made the displacement... They are lined up in front of the polling stations and police first searched every voter, slowing the voting process...

Furthermore, according to the National Police of Haiti, at least 27 people were arrested across the country this morning.

Two people were arrested in Marmont (Hinche), one for disturbance and the other was in possession of a homemade weapon.

Two representatives of PHTK were arrested at the oting center of the National School of Tabarre.

An individual holding a fake mandate was arrested by police in the voting center of the Institution mixte Frère Froisset in Delmas.

A hundred voters were not able to find their names on the electoral roll at the National School Beudot.

In Saint-Marc the voting center of Collège l'union was transferred to the Ecole presbytérale of Flerenceau.

In Petit-Goâve men have attempted to take the ballot box of polling station #22 and #5.

A man was arrested by officers of the PNH at school Sainte Anne of Cité Soleil, he wore a T-shirt of observer and had in his possession several mandates...

Voters were forbidden to enter the voting center ’École foyer culturel Saint Vincent de Paul in Cité Soleil, so far we do not know the reason, that has caused great tension between the PNH and the turned away voters.

To the School Sainte Anne of Cite Soleil where elections had been disrupted on August 9, security is reinforced by officers from the Corps of Intervention and Maintenance of Order (CIMO).

In Poirrier (North) a locality of Saint-Marc the voting operations were temporarily suspended following an altercation between two individuals and a police officer.

In Delmas in some voting center, there are more representatives than voters !

In the margin of the vote, a policeman was accidentally killed while handling a 12-gauge shotgun...
