Haiti - FLASH : The Government extends of 72 hours the deadline for the Commission
Following a letter addressed to the Head of State by the Independent Electoral Commission of Evaluation on the impossibility to issue its report on the due date by the Order [30 December 2015] given "the amount of work remaining" https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-16204-haiti-news-electoral-zapping.html , President Martelly granted by Presidential Decree, the delay of 72 hours additional requested by the Commission to submit its report.

Text of Decree :

"[...] Considering Article 136 of the Constitution;

Given the Decree of President of the Republic dated December 22, 2015 forming the Independent Electoral Commission of Evaluation and fixing to December 30, 2015 the date for submission of its report to the competent authorities of the State to useful purposes;

Considering the letter of 30 December 2015 addressed to the President of the Republic by the said Commission requesting an extension of seventy-two hours of deadline for the submission of its report;

Given that the operations planned as part of its work proved longer than expected;

Considering it is appropriate to grant the request produced by the said Independent Electoral Commission of Evaluation ;

ADOPTED

Article 1. A new period of 72 hours, as of December 30, 2015, is granted to the Independent Electoral Commission of Evaluation, established by Decree dated 22 December 2015, for the submission of its report to the President of the Republic who will transmit it both the Government, the Provisional Electoral Council and to the two candidates for suites appropriate.

Article 2. This order will be printed, published and executed for the purposes of law.

Given at the National Palace in Port-au-Prince, December 31, 2015; Year 212 of Independence.
