The President of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), Pierre Louis Opont, in a letter has submitted his resignation to the President of the Republic Michel Martelly, recalling that he served in particular circumstances that did not allow him to fulfill its mission.

Following the correspondence dated 27 January 2016, of the Economic Forum https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-16443-haiti-politic-the-economic-forum-asks-to-opont-to-resign.html who sponsored my appointment to the Provisional Electoral Council, I asks you to receive my resignation.

History will remember that I served my country in particular circumstances. Of tragic events independent of my will having hampered the electoral process did not allow me to fulfill my mission until the end, which was to carry out the elections leading to the opening of Parliament January 11, 2016 and installation on February 7 2016 of an elected President.

By respect for the commitment that I took during my swearing January 23, 2015, I think it's time for me to leave.
