Haiti - Politic : Import ban, the Government has 3 options

Thursday, Prime Minister Enex Jean-Charles; Romain Yves Bastien, the Minister of Economy; Jessy C. Petit-Frère, the Minister of Commerce, Pierre Guito Laurore, the Minister of Agriculture and the Director General of Customs were present at the convening of the Commission "Economy and Finance" of the Lower House https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-17086-haiti-politic-pm-convened-by-a-commission-of-the-lower-house.html

At this meeting, the import ban by road, of 23 products from the Dominican Republic from 1 October 2015 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15156-haiti-notice-import-ban-by-road-of-certain-products-from-dr.html was at the heart of discussion.

At a press briefing after his meeting with the Commission, the Prime Minister declared "[...] it is best that we first have a Council of Ministers to see how to move forward, we inform the deputies that we have 3 possibilities, we can decide: to refer the decision; to maintain the decision; or the decision can be improved and involve a number of products.

The deputies told me to return to the Primature,to the ministers to return to their ministry and the Customs Director to return to his Directorate General, to prepare our paper, so that at the next meeting, we came back with a clear measure and we promise that we will do that."

Recall that the Commissions concerned in both Houses of Parliament have spoke in favor of lifting of the ban https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-17102-haiti-politic-deputies-and-senators-for-the-lifting-of-the-ban-on-dominican-products.html
