Haiti - FLASH : Strong reaction of former Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe

In a note, the office of former Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe "denounces and vehemently condemns the departure ban order issued by the prosecutor of Port-au-Prince against several former ministers and Prime ministers, disseminated by some media of the capital.

This decision both arbitrary, illegal and abusive is taken in flagrant violation of the Constitution, the International Covenant on Human Rights to the extent that these former officials are only justiciable in front of the High Court of Justice and not in front a ordinary court and that no law allows the prosecution to restrict freedom of movement.

While 4 successive and favorable audits were carried out on the management of the former Prime Minister Lamothe, the office misunderstands this relentlessness against former officials who served our country with honor and dignity in difficult circumstances.

The office expressed its concern at the recurrence of such acts of political intimidation and calls for vigilance against the systematic violation of human rights by the Government Commissioner eager for publicity at the expense of legal principles."
