Haiti - Politic : No decision of Parliament, Privert plans to stay
Since the beginning of the week, the provisional President Privert to 5 days of the expiry of his mandate, launched a series of consultations with stakeholders of national life to discuss the situation and the end of his mandate on 14 June. The provisional President should meet at the National Palace on Thursday afternoon, the offices of both Houses of Parliament. Note that on Wednesday in preparation for the meeting, a meeting at the extraordinary took place in the Lower House between the various political blocs and President of the Commissions, in order to harmonize the position of the Chamber before meeting the President this Thursday.

Alluding to the General Meeting to be held on June 13 (also the opening of the second session of the Legislative year) and will decide on the extension or not of its mandate, the Head of State declared "I hope my former colleagues in Parliament will measure the extent of the crisis and make the right decision to avoid chaos."

Asked on what he would do on 14 June to avoid a political vacuum, if the National Assembly was not held on June 13, he answered "[...] The responsibility that I assume is not a joke [...] It would be irresponsible from me not to take my responsibilities because others do not assume theirs [...]" implying that without National Assembly or decision on the extension or not of his term, he would remain in office to avoid "chaos" recalling that for him "as long as the elections are not conducted, the agreement of February 5 remains valid [!]"

Meanwhile, it is parliamentarians who will have the last word on his future, however, at 5 days of expiry of the mandate of the February agreement, the holding of the National Assembly scheduled for 13 June, remains until now uncertain and its outcome still unpredictable.
