Haiti - NOTICE : Lifting of the ban of carrying a firearm
Camille Junior Edouard, Minister of Justice and Public Security, in a note notify those concerned in particular and the public in general, that "following a meeting of the Superior Council of the National Police (CSPN), which was held Wednesday, June 15, 2016, it was decided to lift the provisional suspension measure of carrying a firearm throughout the national territory."

In addition the Minister indicates that the CSPN "asked the police to remain on high alert to ensure and maintain the security of the population in accordance with the Constitution and laws of the Republic."

The Minister invites the population to "collaborate with the police to find and punish all perpetrators and accomplices of acts of banditry likely to disturb the public peace."

It also asks the population to "keep calm and serenity and continue to trust the National Police of Haiti that will not fail to fulfill its mission in all circumstances."

Recall that the ban was in response to specific information held by the Government, suggesting the planning of imminent attacks by armed commandos against schools, public buildings and service stations. However, until now, no people has been arrested in connection with the alleged attacks that never happened...
