Haiti - FLASH : G8 no longer exists (Official)

After the removal from the G8 earlier this week of Notary Jean-Henry Céant, former presidential candidate under the banner of "Renmen Ayiti" https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-17755-haiti-politic-the-g8-loses-one-of-its-members.html , the Group Thursday announced its dissolution in a note bearing the signature of the remaining 7 members (Sauveur Pierre Étienne, Jean-Charles Moïse, Jude Célestin, Mario Andrésol, Steven I. Benoit, Éric Jean-Baptiste and Samuel Madistin).

While recognizing having obtained satisfaction on most of their claims, the Group in its long list of Considering indicate and explain among others :

"[...] Considering that the efforts of the G-8 resulted in a mitigated victory and that the end of the mandate of the provisional president represents a aggravation factor of the crisis;

Considering that the resumption of the process offers the possibility, of democratic and legitimate manner, of competition within the G-8;

Considering the G-8, by its nature, can not proceed, within it, to an open or closed primary in order to reach a single candidate;

Considering it is necessary to avoid any friction within the G-8 which remained united in solidarity for the duration of its existence;"

before concluding :

"It was arrested and agreed as follows:

Article 1: The group of presidential candidates engaged in the electoral process designed to the installation of the newly elected president February 7, 2016, commonly known as the Group of 8 (G-8), is, from the date of the presents dissolved.

Article 2: Former members of the G-8 remains committed to confidentiality clauses marking their relationships, their deliberations and their operation both in their internal relations and in those with national and international partners.

Article 3: The provisions of Article 2 also represent a non-aggression pact to all members of the G-8 as part of upcoming elections."
