Haiti - FLASH : A new disaster hit the country
Torrential rains falling since Thursday on several departments of the country have worsened the situation of populations already severely affected by the passage of Hurricane Matthew, causing several casualties, flooding and significant damage to infrastructure spared by Hurricane that hi Haiti two weeks ago.

The turn of the situation (Partial) :

In the department of Artibonite, in Anse-Rouge, Downtown flooded. 162 families are affected. Floods of the Ravine in the night of 20 October. Roads are cut between Gonaïves and Anse-Rouge and between Anse-Rouge and Jean Rabel.

In the department of Nippes in Anse-à-Veau, in downtown, Quai Street, the Bord-de-Mer and Rivière Street are flooded 35 homes flooded; in Arnaud the bridge between Arnaud and Anse-à-Veau ceded; to Azile downtown is landlocked again because of the flood of the rivers : river Serpent, river Mahot, river Despins ; in Baradères the downtown is flooded.

Across the North West department for the past three days, torrential rains hit the department. The situation worsened in some areas at risk of flooding and landslides. Thursday night, the communes of Baie de Henne, Bombardopolis, Jean-Rabel, Môle Saint-Nicolas and Port-de-Paix received heavy rainfall which caused extensive damage.

At Baie-de-Henne flooding in the city center, caused by flood of gullies LaCoupe, Place Jacques and rising waves. 800 families were evacuated Thursday evening and hosted at the school Maria Ghoreti and the school Henry 1er.

Landslide cases have been reported in some sections and localities including the 1st section, Citerne Rémy. Traffic is impractical to Tiparadis, a locality of the 4th section L’Estère Déré (commune of Baie-de-Henne, Northwest) where it is reported 5 dead (2 women and 3 men) and one missing of two families, following the overflow of a ravine bordering the village where was the victims' homes. Further loss of material goods are reported.

In Jean Rabel moderate flooding. Latrines have collapsed and houses are flooded. Access to certain roads becomes difficult if not impossible, sometimes by the effect of erosion or flood of gullies and rivers : sections Anse-Rouge/ Mare-Rouge and Mare-Rouge/ Port-de-Paix recently rehabilitated by the Departmental Directorate of TPTC in response to Matthew.

At Mole Saint-Nicolas, the city is completely flooded after flooding of the gully La Gorge. Families were evacuated on Thursday evening. They are no longer in shelters currently. The roads are impassable.

At Port-de-Paix, flooding of the Baie des Moustiques, 5th section.

In the West department, in Port-au-Prince, flood in Martissant on Thursday evening. Back to normal this morning. However a rising water is found in gullies.

In the South Department, in Les Cayes the city is flooded. Upwelling at Bergeau (entrance to the city). In Saint-Louis du Sud, the locality Petite-Rivière is flooded, in the 7th section Cherette.
