Haiti - Elections : CONATEL calls the media to objectivity and moderation
The General Direction of the Executive Body of the National Telecommunications Council (CONATEL) takes note of the emotion that reach the media and language discrepancies that tend to lead to incitement to violence, following the election day of November 20, 2016, asks the Directors of Opinion to rise to the dimension of objectivity and impartiality that must characterize their conduct.

While urging the actors to remain calm and serene, it reminds them the provisions of Articles 51 b and c of the Decree of 12 October 1977:

b) "The information disseminated must be accurate, objective and impartial; They must come from authorized sources to be indicated at the time of transmission.

c) Those responsible of program monitor them to prevent that even accurate information can harm the population or alarm it by their form, presentation or opportunity."
