A mission of the United Nations Economic and Social Council Ad Hoc Advisory Group on Haiti (ECOSOC- AHAG) will visit Haiti from 8 to 10 May to assess the socio-economic situation and make recommendations on the long-term development of Haiti.

The Mission, composed of 15 countries, will also explore the prospects for deepening the partnership between the Haitian government and the international community in support of its efforts to put the country back on the road to economic recovery and development.

The delegation will be led by Mr. Marc-André Blanchard, Chair of the ECOSOC Ad Hoc Advisory Group on Haiti, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Canada to the United Nations. During the mission, the Group will meet with the Haitian authorities (senior government officials, parliamentarians and local authorities), civil society representatives (NGOs, local associations and representatives of the private sector) and development partners, including UN entities, donor community and other development actors, among others.

The Ad Hoc Advisory Group will submit to ECOSOC a report on its work, with recommendations, at its Coordination and Management Meeting in July 2017.
