Haiti - DR : Nearly 3,500 Haitians repatriated every month to the border of Dajabón

Colonel Ange Alfredo Camacho, Interagency Coordinator said that members of CESFRONT (Border Security Corps) have arrested on the Dominican territory in the border area of Dajabón on average about 3,500 undocumented Haitians each month since the beginning of the year who were trying to bypass the military checkpoints along the border. These Haitians were repatriated to Haiti by the Directorate General of Immigration after their identification.

"This is an arduous task we are doing, but we are determined to comply with the Minister's directives," said Camacho, pointing out that in the fight against the illegal entry of undocumented Haitian migrants, Cesfront can rely on the support of the Directorate General of Immigration and the Dominican Army, under the direct supervision of Lieutenant-General Rubén Darío Paulino Sem, the Minister of Defense and senior military officers who frequently visit the border to ensure that the proposed measures are being implemented and to take corrective action when necessary.

He also recalled that following the instructions of President Danilo Medina and the Minister of Defense, guidelines were laid down for the massive reinforcement of the border (military and equipment), not only to combat illegal migration, but also against the smuggling of goods of all kinds.
