Haiti - Reconstruction : Partial review of the Dominican aid

Following the earthquake of January 2010 which has hit Haiti, the Dominican Government has provided to the people of Haiti, an aid of RD$ 1,261,445,797.29 (US$ 34.8 million) over the last 12 months.

According to data provided by the Ministry of Economy, the following amounts were spent:

  • RD$ 150,953,834.30 (US$ 4.2 million) in the supply of food and water.

  • RD$ 6,589,338.46 (US$ 182,000) in transportation of victims, excavation and debris removal (by the Directorate General of Border Development).

  • RD$ 8,274,000 (US$ 228,500) in medical equipment and personal services (Civil Defense)

  • RD$ 29,429,640 (US$ 812,900) in food, medical supplies and body bags (Office of the First Lady)

  • RD$ 16,290,000 (US$ 450,000) for the dredging of canals and rehabilitation of irrigation and drainage (Ministry of Agriculture)

  • RD$ 100,000,000 (US$ 2.7 million) pour la réparation de ponts routes, transport aérien et terrestre (Forces Armées)

  • RD$ 262,200,000 (US$ 7,2 million) in the conduct and participation in demonstrations of solidarity and international representation (Presidency of the Republic)

  • RD$ 687,708,984.53 (18.9 million) in emergency care and hospital (Department of Public Health)

The Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development said it will announce next week, the accounts for investments made to assist and support the neighboring country.
