Haiti - Security : An unknown seismic fault under the Central Plateau...
The magnitude 4.3 earthquake on the Richter scale which occurred on Saturday and whose epicenter was located 11 km south-west of Thomonde and 13 km northeast of Mirebalais in the Central Plateau https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-22001-haiti-flash-balance-of-the-earthquake-in-the-central-plateau.html https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-21992-haiti-flash-earthquake-of-43-in-the-central-plateau.html is due to an unknown fault.

Geologist Claude Prepetit, Director General of the Bureau of Mines and Energy, confirmed Monday that the shock can not be attributed to any of the known major faults, which reveals a certain seismic activity in the Central Plateau considered until now as the safest region in Haiti.

It recommends that the authorities conduct studies to determine if there is a major flaw in the region, highlighting the consequences of an intensity 7 earthquake on the Richter scale on infrastructure such as dam and the Péligre power station and the population...
