Haiti - FLASH : EDH preventive measures in the wake of Hurricane IRMA

Haiti - FLASH : EDH preventive measures in the wake of Hurricane IRMA

The General Directorate of Electricity of Haiti (EDH) wishes to inform the population of the arrangements made by the Board of Directors for the passage Thursday 7 and Friday 8 September of Hurricane IRMA of Category 5 :

- Preventive management of the water level in collaboration with the ODVA at the Péligre dam;

- Many pruning works, notably in the metropolitan area but also in several departments, including the North, North East, West and Central Plateau (Péligre, Mirebalais, Ouanaminthe, Fort-Liberté, Cap-Haïtien, etc...) Port-au-Prince (Petion-city, Downtown, etc...)

- An emergency unit has been set up and emergency teams are mobilized as well as the EDH Call Center;

EDH would like to remind the entire public that it is dangerous to intervene on the grid during and after the hurricane, without authorization.

The EDH invites the population to report any breakdowns, anomalies on the grid at the following numbers:

- North: 3702-8056

- Northeast: 3702-8052

- Péligre / Central Plateau: 3702-3786

It also invites the public to follow the weather information bulletins in order to know the evolution and the trajectory of IRMA, to have lamps and to keep the electric charge of their mobile phone batteries in case of a prolonged outage

EDH is counting on the collaboration of the entire population to avoid unfortunate incidents that may occur when breaking down distribution lines by identifying areas damaged for prompt intervention.
