Several barrack belonging to Haitians were burned Monday in Barahona causing the death of a Haitian child of 3 years. According the police chief several incendiaries have been identified, it would be Aquino Rivas (Dominican) and Marzo Eliza and Johnny Pierre (descendants of Haitians). According to the police chief, Melvin Pierre, the father of the young victim, would have attacked earlier, Victor Matos (42 years) a farm guardian, of Dominican origin, to steal his gun. The incendiaries have set fire in reprisal. Carlos Morales Troncoso, the Dominican Foreign Minister has described the attack as despicable and inconsistent with the policy of the Dominican government.

Between Sunday and Monday, at least 160 undocumented Haitians were repatriated to Haiti, arrested by members of CESFRONT, of the National army and Immigration officers when they tried to infiltrate to the Dominican territory.

Members of civil defense, police and firefighters were recovered in the Yaque River in the north of Santiago and Bocas de Mao (Esperanza), the bodies of two Haitian immigrants, a man and a woman apparently drowned. An investigation was opened. One victim has been identified, it would be a Haitian named Jean Eole, aged of 25 years.

Sociologists and Wooding Dominican Bridget José Antinoe Fiallo Billini consider that the increasing of the incidents reported in recent days in the Dominican Republic, are serious and do not contribute to good relations between the two countries, but instead they created more tension and anxiety.

For José Antinoe Fiallo Billini "The fundamental problems of the two countries do not stop at the situations that arise with an immigrant, it is the structure itself of the Dominican society, of oppression and exclusion, which is involved. These incidents could have international repercussions on various interests of the country." The two sociologists deem urgent that the country take measures to prevent the increase of such acts, which demonstrate the importance at the political level, to maintain the Peace between the two countries.
