The Directorate General of Migration (DGM) seized 329 identity cards of the National Plan for the Regularization of Foreigners (PNRE) and other falsified identity documents during migration control operations in the Provinces of Dajabón and Santiago.

Among the documents seized in the hands of Haitians, fake PNRE cards and real ones used by Haitians who were not the legitimate owners (identity theft).

The DGM stated that the fraudulent use of these documents has been updated by immigration officers and inspectors, after verification by biometric readers in connection with the central database. Let's remind our brothers and sisters that biometric controls are becoming more and more common during migratory controls.

It should be noted that the identity theft of a Haitian registered regularly with the PNRE using a card generally stolen from his owner and resold by networks, leads to the deportation of the cardholder for identity theft, but also to the exclusion from the PNRE and the deportation of the true owner of the card, if he can not prove that he filed a complaint before the seizure, for the theft of his card.

The DGM recalls that more than 4,000 fake documents that were in the hands of Haitian (PNRE cards, false visas, cedulas, birth certificates, Haitian passports etc...) were seized during the previous months, when control operations throughout the Dominican Republic.
